1.) Melissa is a macro virus that appeared in spring of 1999. The virus received a great deal of media attention and like Michelangelo caused little damage, although it was very widespread. Melissa began spreading exactly one month before CIH released its payload, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage in East Asia. It is one of the first viruses to achieve "rock star" status.

3.) Sasser is an Internet worm that probably caused billions of dollars of damage in 2004. It was created by a Computer science student in Germany who was also behind Netsky. While there was no intentionally destructive payload, Sasser did cause many computers to slow down or crash, causing some high profile damage.

4.)The CIH virus, also known as Chernobyl, was first discovered in 1998 June in Taiwan. According to the Taipei authorities, Chen Ing-hau wrote the CIH virus. The name of the virus derived from his initials. It did most of its damage within a few months of ExploreZip and Melissa's appearance. Contrary to the popular belief, the payload trigger date had nothing to do with the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

5.) CodeRed is a worm that caused possible billions of dollars of damage in the summer of 2001. It contains the text string "Hacked by Chinese!", which is displayed on web pages that the worm defaces. 6.) The Blaster worm, also known as Lovesan, created havoc in late summer of 2003 with widespread Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, with damage totaling in the hundreds of millions. It is also notable for two hidden text strings, one that says "I just want to say LOVE YOU SAN!" (from which it receives one of its aliases) and a message to Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. It appeared within less than a month before one of the major variants of the Sobig worm.
